Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 15, at Kirk Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to support his sons’ future education. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father-in-law, Stephen Hughes. father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Susan Weinerman of Rapid City brother-in-laws, Matthew Hughes and Adam Vance of Ogallala brother-in-law, Mark Hughes of Omaha, NE sister-in-law, Andrea Herrod nephews, Lane and Koda, and a niece, Isabella of Sidney, NE and his numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Survivors include his wife, Lindsay Blaylock and sons, Stanley and Calvin of Rapid City parents, Stanley and Susan Blaylock of Rapid City sister, Ann Blaylock Bacon and brother-in-law, Perry Bacon of Washington, D.C. In the months leading up to Christmas, you could find him in his woodworking shop making toys, games, and home décor. ![]() He rode a motorcycle, went to rock concerts, and could fix anything. Charley also liked watching Nebraska Cornhusker football and rooting for South Dakota college basketball teams. One of his favorite things to do was to take his sister on a hike, wild raspberry picking, or four wheeling when she visited him from the east coast.Ĭharley enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking, which he learned from his mom. He enjoyed camping in the Black Hills with his wife, children, parents, and extended family. ![]() He spent most winters and summers fishing. He was proudest of his sons when they excelled at school and music, created beautiful art, won sportsmanship awards, and helped others.Ĭharley’s love of the outdoors continued through adulthood. He also coached their tee-ball and basketball teams. From an early age Charley took his sons fishing, camping, hiking, and exploring. Charley and Lindsay liked spending time with friends and family, travelling, going to concerts and other performances, and enjoying each other’s company. In 2009, they moved to Rapid City when Charley accepted a position with the Western Area Power Association. Their sons Stanley and Calvin were born in Ogallala. They later moved to Ogallala, NE, where he worked for Nebraska Public Power District. During their early years of marriage, they lived in Alliance where he worked for Parker Hannifin. They were united in marriage on December 27, 2003, in Oshkosh, NE. Shortly after graduating from college, Charley met the love of his life, Lindsay Hughes. He loved to camp on the family land outside of Hill City, SD, fish in the creeks in the Hills, and pick wild raspberries.Ĭharley graduated from Alliance High School in 1999 and Southeast Community College in Milford, NE, in 2000. As a kid, he spent countless hours catching crawdads and camping next to lakes in the Platte River valley, ice fishing and hunting throughout the panhandle, and exploring with his sister and cousins the dunes and cow pastures surrounding Ashby, NE. Charley was a child of the Nebraska Sandhills and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Charley was born on April 24, 1981, to Stanley and Susan (Childs) Blaylock in Alliance, NE. ![]() Charles Brian Blaylock, 36, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City. ![]()
